How to Use
When using cloth diapers, you will need to pair them with an outer diaper cover to keep diapers from leaking and wetting through to baby’s clothes. Use snap closures to adjust diaper so that it fits snugly on your baby. Use insert for extra absorption. Add Wool Diaper Cover over the fitted diaper.
When considering how many diapers to buy, take into account the age of your baby, how much they wet and how often you do laundry. Newborns and young infants require 10 to 12 diaper changes per day. Toddlers only need 6-8.
Care Instructions
To Prep: before the first use, the diaper should be washed in hot water five times. The fabric will become more absorbent and shrink to size within the initial washes. Tumble dry or hang in sunlight.
To Use: cloth diapers should be washed in a regular load of laundry with hot water. Use a detergent that is free of fragrances, enzymes, and other additives. Avoid fabric softeners and bleach, as they can irritate your baby’s sensitive skin and make cloth diapers less absorbent.
Once washed, the diapers can go in the dryer or be line dried. The heat from the dryer or the sun will help to sanitize the diapers. Dry your diapers on hot for 60-90 minutes in the dryer. Diapers will shrink to size, mostly in length, with the first three washes.
After each wash, your diaper should smell fresh and clean with no hint of urine, feces, ammonia or other unpleasant odors. The odor you’re smelling most likely means there is bacteria present in your diapers which could cause irritation to your baby and potential problems like diaper rash. If your diaper does not smell clean after washing, rewash again in hot water without detergent. Occasionally add 1/2-1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle for softness, absorption and to restore PH. Rinsing is one of the most important steps in cleaning cloth diapers! Be sure to rinse your diapers in HOT water completely and dry in the dryer or in the sun.
Note:
- Boiling these diapers will harm the snaps and elastic.
- Bleach will ruin diapers and possibly harm your child’s skin
